Bob Moul
CEO
Bob is a veteran technology CEO with more than 40 years of experience working with a broad range of commercial, government, academic, and non-profit clients.
Prior to Circonus, Bob was the CEO of Cloudamize, Artisan Mobile, and Boomi, and president of SCT Global Education Solutions. Bob began his career with 19 years at EDS, initially in systems engineering roles, and later as a senior executive leading operations in England, Hong Kong, and Australia.
Bob holds a master’s degree in technology management from the University of Maryland and is a graduate of executive programs at the University of Michigan and MIT. He was named a 2011 and 2021 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist for Philadelphia, the 2013 Small Business Person of the Year by the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, and one of the most influential business people in the city by both Philadelphia Magazine and the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Theo Schlossnagle
Founder & Distinguished Engineer
Theo has been architecting, coding, building, and operating scalable systems for 20 years. As a serial entrepreneur, he has founded four companies and helped grow countless engineering organizations.
After earning undergraduate and graduate degrees from Johns Hopkins University in computer science, Theo went on to research resource allocation techniques in distributed systems during four years of post-graduate work. In 1997, Theo founded OmniTI, which established itself as the go-to source for organizations facing the most challenging scalability, performance and security problems. Theo founded Circonus in 2010, and continues to be its principal architect.
A widely respected industry thought leader, Theo is the author of “Scalable Internet Architectures” (Sams), a contributor to “Web Operations” (O’Reilly) and “Seeking SRE” (O’Reilly), and a frequent speaker at worldwide IT conferences. Theo is a member of the IEEE and a Distinguished Member of the ACM. He serves on the ACM Practitioners Board and as co-chair of ACM Queue and holds the elected position of ACM Member at Large (2018-2022).
Brian Dinan
Finance/HR Director
Brian is a seasoned executive with over 15 years of experience in the public and private accounting sectors.
Prior to joining Circonus, Brian was the Controller for Symphony Health and part of a team that led a dramatic turnaround of the business resulting in a profitable exit in 2017.
Brian has also worked in the auditing practice at Deloitte and served in a manger role across multiple different sectors servicing large to mid-market companies.
Brian graduated from Philadelphia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 2003. He currently lives outside the Philadelphia area.
Kevin Kamel
VP Product & Customer Success
Kevin is a multidisciplinary executive with 20 years of experience in product development, software engineering, marketing and customer success.
Prior to his role as VP of Product & Customer Success at Circonus, Kevin spent the majority of his career in fast-paced startup environments. He was an early employee at MailerMailer LLC, a small but nimble email service provider, where he worked for 13 years. When the company was acquired by j2 Global in early 2017, Kevin was serving as Vice President of Product Development. The product portfolio he developed during his tenure won numerous awards and directly contributed to the acquisition.
Kevin put himself through school at the University of Maryland working as a system safety and reliability engineer at NASA. After graduating with a B.S. in Computer Engineering, he accepted a faculty position at his alma mater. In this role, he supported a public-private partnership known as the MIND Lab, which served as a DC-area tech incubator. This experience led Kevin to discover a passion for prototyping and developing new products on behalf of companies such as Fujitsu and Koolspan.
Kevin’s personal interests include investing, fishing, and travel. Kevin has lived in seven states and currently resides in Denver.
Brian Dunavant
Director of Engineering
Brian has been consulting, designing, building, and improving software for over 18 years. His work has spanned numerous technologies and industries from non-profit to e-commerce. Brian leads the Circonus Engineering team with strong focus on availability, durability, and scalability within all areas of the platform.
Brian started his IT career on embedded devices at eTegral Partners before shifting over to internet technologies. Before joining Circonus, Brian managed the engineering team at OmniTI where, he was instrumental in the success of over 50 different client contracts spanning multiple goals, including PCI-compliance, web security, scalability, and performance. He has a love of data-stores and how complex systems interact and communicate. He has held multiple roles throughout the technology stack as an individual contributor, as well as in leadership and mentoring.
Outside of work, Brian is a conference speaker and open-source contributor. Brian and his wife spend their free time raising their son, and are active in their local community.
Zach Malone
Director of Operations
Zach has been working with keeping complex systems secure and running for over 20 years. Prior to Circonus, he managed systems for Rally Software, Flowdock, the University of Colorado Boulder, and the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
In working with the Circonus operations team, Zach has focused on building maintainable, stable, and understandable computer infrastructure and contributing back to the open-source community.
At present, Zach is based in Southern West Virginia, although he has roots in Northern California, Maryland, and Colorado. Outside of Circonus, his interests involve environmental conservation in West Virginia and taking care of his beloved children.
David Wallace
CTO
As Circonus CTO, David leads the development of the company’s innovation and technology strategy, ensuring the infrastructure is secure, reliable, and scalable. Leveraging a proven agile methodology, David and the team continuously refine and develop solutions to support client needs. Simultaneously, they work to execute the product roadmap strategy and deliver innovation to build upon Circonus’ market leading platform.
With over 25 years of experience, David has a proven track record of helping small companies grow, mature, and cultivate strong cultures. David has led multiple technical organizations across the Clinical, Procurement and Insurance sectors. He has been recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal multiple times for his impact on the local technology sector.
Previously, David was CTO of Greenphire, the leading clinical trial payments technology solution. There he helped build and scale the organization from 15 to over 350 employees, followed by a sale to Thoma Bravo. Prior to that, David held leadership positions at iPipeline, the market leader of Insurance SaaS Technologies, and Procurian, the leading procurement business solutions.
Born in Ireland and raised in the Philadelphia area, David earned his Bachelor of Science at Delaware Valley University. He lives in Chester Springs, PA with his wife and 2 children. He is a retired Adventure Racer and an active traveler with keen interests in hiking, golf, and anything outdoors.
